St. Vincent’s Cooperative Preschool provides parents an opportunity to better understand the growth and development of your children as a participant, not just as an observer. At our preschool, children, parents and the teacher learn together. Children learn through play, parents learn while helping to run the preschool, and teachers learn by working with the parents. What an important statement to make to our children on the value of education and lifelong learning!

St. Vincent’s Cooperative Preschool is a non-profit organization overseen by a board, elected from and by the membership. As a member, you will contribute to decision-making and policy setting.

Participation
Because parents participate in the classroom, your child will benefit from an approximate child to adult ratio of 2:1. Each parent or guardian must work one day per week in his or her child’s classroom. Additionally, parents must sign up for a committee position and attend one evening meeting per month.

A schedule will be posted monthly which lists each person’s name and their duty in the class for each working day. Some families choose to make an arrangement with another adult family member (for example, a grandparent, uncle, etc.) to work in the classroom in their place. If a member is unable to work on their scheduled day, it is that member’s responsibility to arrange for a substitute to take their place.

As your part in the process, you'll gain information and skills helpful for meeting your child’s social, mental, physical and emotional needs. In addition, you will have access to at least three parent education classes during the school year.

If a prospective preschool member wishes to enroll their child in the preschool, but is unable to fulfill the weekly classroom obligations, they may apply for a limited participation status. This would exempt the member from having to work in the classroom, but attendance at monthly parent meetings and a committee assignment are still required. The fee for limited participation families is one and a half times the normal tuition for the class in which they are enrolling. Requests are subject to board approval.

Registration and Fees for 2006/2007
Currently, we have room for additional students.
In March, an open house will begin our public registration period. During years that we have less than full enrollment, your family may join the preschool during the middle of the school year.

Enrollment fee at time of registration (non-refundable and non-transferable) is $30.00. This fee needs to be collected prior to child’s first day of school.

Total yearly preschool tuition fees:
Two Yr old class is a One day a week class (9:30-11:30 A.M., Fridays.): $45.00 x 9 months = $405.00
Payable in 8 payments of $50.62
Three yr old class is a Three-day class (9:00am to 11:45amMon-Wed.): $80.00 x 9 months = $720.00
Payable in 8 payments of $90.00
